DEAN KLEVAN, PRESIDENT
AND CEO OF CORAL GABLES TRUST COMMENTS
ON PATRIOT ACT AND ITS IMPACT ON SOUTH
FLORIDA - Miami Herald
"One trend of some
institutions is open platform," says
Dean Klevan, Jr., President and CEO of
Coral Gables Trust Company.
...
"The Patriot Act has made doing
international business harder, with
compliance much harder," says Klevan,
though client scrutiny was always part
of the private banking process. In a
way, it's just more of the same for
private bankers and financial advisers,
who make a living from learning about
personal fortunes." They have simply
upped the awareness level of knowing
your client, that has simply put in good
business practices," he says."
Unfortunately, they are expensive
practices." Overall, however, Klevan is
not too worried about the impact of the
Patriot Act on South Florida.
