CGTC Shines at Annual
Diamond Awards The Trust Company wins in
'Diamond in the Rough' Category
The Coral Gables Chamber
of Commerce honored Coral Gables Trust
Company, presenting Founding President
Dean Klevan with the award for
outstanding new company. The 'Diamond in
the Rough' category recognizes the
outstanding rookie business formed after
January 1, 2002.
"Coral Gables Trust
Company has come a long way in eight
months," wrote the Coral Gables Gazette
covering the awards event which took
place at the Omni Colonnade Hotel. Also
honored was the University of Miami,
winner in the 'Large Business' and
'Overall Winner' categories.
"I consider it an honor
to have the name of Coral Gables as part
of our corporate identity," Klevan
remarked. "When you think of Coral
Gables, there is undoubtedly a certain
panache; the beauty of the city, the
affluence of the city, the history of
the city," he told an audience assembled
in the hotel's Merrick function room.
The keynote address was
delivered by Dr. Anita Cava, Professor
of Ethics at the University of Miami.
Dr. Cava's speech centered around
corporate community engagement. "Any
investment in the community is a
positive brand...There is a multiplier
effect because the money stays in the
neighborhood. The impact of that money
is almost $250 million."
It was noted that the
Trust Company has made headway in
corporate community engagement,
specifically with Coral Gables' own
Fairchild Tropical Garden and Historical
Society. CGTC President Dean Klevan
summed the evening up best when he said,
"We're blessed to be part of the City
Beautiful."
